A proper lubricant lowers friction and allows the tool to cut smoothly. It reduces vibration, increases accuracy, and lowers the amount of force needed. In practice this can shorten processing time by up to 30 percent.
Metal absorbs and holds heat during cutting. Without cooling, both tool and workpiece risk overheating. This slows the job, causes poor results, and can stop slug ejection in annular cutting. At worst, it can destroy the tool.
Lubrication and cooling shield your workpiece and equipment. They prevent surface marks, hole inaccuracy, and tool burn out, keeping both machine and cutter in top condition.
With steady lubrication and cooling, tools last far longer. In annular cutting, the stress on both cutter and machine is reduced significantly. This can extend the lifespan of a cutter by up to five times.
