Cutting Lubricants
At Euroboor we look at every factor that makes your work more effective. Our magnetic drilling machines, annular cutters, and accessories are built for performance, but the process does not stop there. Cooling and lubrication are just as important. They determine not only the speed of your work but also the quality of the finish and the lifetime of your equipment.
Why lubrication and cooling matter
Working with metal always creates friction and heat. If not managed properly, this shortens tool life and reduces accuracy. With the right approach, you cut faster, protect your tools, and get cleaner results. Watch Pieter below briefly explain the cutting lubricants:
1. Lubrication
A proper lubricant lowers friction and allows the tool to cut smoothly. It reduces vibration, increases accuracy, and lowers the amount of force needed. In practice this can shorten processing time by up to 30 percent.
2. Cooling
Metal absorbs and holds heat during cutting. Without cooling, both tool and workpiece risk overheating. This slows the job, causes poor results, and can stop slug ejection in annular cutting. At worst, it can destroy the tool.
3. Protection
Lubrication and cooling shield your workpiece and equipment. They prevent surface marks, hole inaccuracy, and tool burn out, keeping both machine and cutter in top condition.
4. Durability
With steady lubrication and cooling, tools last far longer. In annular cutting, the stress on both cutter and machine is reduced significantly. This can extend the lifespan of a cutter by up to five times.
